Terms of service

These Terms are an agreement between you and [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (“Orafide”) about your use of the Orafide apps, the Apple Watch app and orafide.ai (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Service.

1. Who can use Orafide

  • You must be at least 13 (16 in the European Union unless a parent or guardian consents, or the higher age your country requires).
  • Dating features are only for people 18 and over. We may remove anyone we reasonably believe is under 18 from dating.
  • You must give accurate information and keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for activity on your account.

2. What Orafide is, and is not

Orafide helps Catholics pray, learn and connect: daily readings and prayers, a church map, an AI assistant, tools for parishes, and an optional dating service. Orafide is not a church, a diocese or a priest, and it does not provide sacraments. Confession, anointing, Mass and the other sacraments cannot be received through the Service. Nothing in Orafide is a substitute for your pastor, spiritual director or the teaching authority of the Church. We are not affiliated with, and have not been endorsed by, the Holy See or any diocese unless we say so.

3. Ask Orafide (AI assistant)

Ask Orafide is generated by artificial intelligence and may be incomplete or mistaken. It is for general information about the Catholic faith. It is not a priest or counsellor and does not give medical, legal, financial or mental-health advice. If you are in crisis or danger, contact local emergency services. Free accounts have a daily question limit shown in the app.

4. Plans, billing and renewals

  • Most of Orafide is free. Plus and Premium are paid subscriptions with the features described on our pricing section; one-time packs (such as premium likes and boosts) may also be offered. Prices are shown in the app and may differ by country and store, and include taxes where the store requires.
  • Purchases in the iPhone or Apple Watch apps are billed by Apple, and Android purchases by Google Play. Their terms apply, including how to cancel and request refunds. Manage or cancel in your device's subscription settings.
  • Purchases on the web are billed by Stripe. You can cancel any time from the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Packs are non-refundable once used, except where the law requires otherwise. [CONFIRM refund and free-trial wording with counsel.]
  • We never lock safety features (verification, reporting and blocking) behind a payment.

5. Your content and our licence

You keep ownership of what you submit (for example your profile, journal, messages and parish content). You give us a limited, worldwide licence to host, display and process it only to run the Service for you and, for content you choose to publish (such as a parish page or dating profile), to show it to the audience you select. You promise you have the right to submit it. Scripture quotations in the app are from public-domain translations unless noted.

6. Community rules

Do not: harass, threaten, impersonate or deceive anyone; send sexual, hateful or violent content; ask other members for money; post another person's private information; use Orafide to recruit for scams or commercial solicitation; scrape the Service; interfere with its security; or use it unlawfully. We may remove content and suspend or end accounts that break these rules, and may report serious cases to authorities.

7. Dating: please be careful

The dating service is free to use. We provide tools to report and block, but we do not run criminal background checks and cannot guarantee anyone's identity or intentions. Use the safety tips on our Safety page: meet in public, tell a friend, and never send money. You are responsible for your interactions with other members. Verification badges, where shown, mean only that a member completed our verification step.

8. Parish tools

Parishes and dioceses may subscribe to administration tools under a separate licence fee shown at sign-up ([$29] or [$79] per month for the standard tiers; custom for dioceses). A parish administrator confirms they are authorised to act for the parish and is responsible for the accuracy of Mass times, events and announcements they publish. We may require proof of authority and may remove a parish page claimed without authority.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including Apple, Google, Stripe, RevenueCat, WorkOS, Anthropic and Amazon Web Services. Church and place information on the map comes from Google and from parishes themselves and may be out of date; please confirm Mass times with the parish.

10. Ending your use

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account). We may suspend or end access if you break these Terms or the law. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel that in your device settings.

11. Disclaimers and limits

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties to the fullest extent the law allows. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Orafide will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for the conduct of other members, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and [US$100]. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. 12. Changes, law and contact

We may update these Terms; material changes will be notified in the app, and continued use means you accept them. These Terms are governed by the laws of [STATE / COUNTRY], and disputes will be resolved in [COURTS / ARBITRATION], except where your local consumer law gives you the right to use your local courts.
